Here are a few ugly sweater party ideas to get you started:
Decorations: How do you decorate a tacky Christmas sweater party? With more sweaters, of course! You can use them as placemats underneath trays of food or just hang them on a clothesline as a modified holiday garland. Another idea is to display awkward or embarrassing old family photos from Christmases past. Have a good laugh looking at old fashions and uncomfortable, forced poses. Ask others to bring their contributions to share!
Food and Drinks: Bake cookies in the shape of sweaters or make gingerbread men and decorate them with colorful icing in crazy patterns like polka dots or stripes. Another traditionally “tacky” Christmas food is fruitcake, although there are many delicious recipes available. You can also serve brightly colored drinks to match the garish, festive colors of your ugly sweaters.
Activities: Your ugly sweater Christmas party will be full of fun with these games. Have a fashion show and award a prize. based on guests’ votes for the most outrageous outfit. You can also host an “Unravel the Sweater” race. Ask for volunteers who are willing to dismember their sweaters for the sake of a good time.
