National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day

National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day celebrates small business owners. These individuals spend countless hours nurturing and growing their young enterprises. The workload demands, and lack of a hired staff, often translates into long and late hours, and many missed family and personal events. But, all in all, they love what they do. After all, they are their own boss.

New businesses have always been a vital, yet not fully appreciated, part of the U.S. economy. On they retail side, they bring different and unique products to the marketplace. They provide stellar and personal service support. When you call, you are more likely to get a real, live person. And unlike big national chains, they know their products. They are outstanding performers in niche markets. In manufacturing, they create many new concepts and ideas, making them creators of new products.

Celebrate National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day by showing your their stores today, and everyday.

Business cards
Many marketing gurus say that a great business card can be your most effective marketing tool. Pack it with as much information as it will hold, not just contact information. Good graphics are important, but not as crucial as actually describing what your company does in a line or two. Maybe put the contact information on the front and list your products or services on the back. Your business card must be different, memorable, and prospects must want to keep it.

Brochures, Fliers, Rack Cards
This can be a virtual one, in PDF format on the internet, or a black-and-white, two-color or even four-color paper handout. In any case, it’s important to have one, because it can cover a variety of general needs that no other single marketing document can handle, ranging from distribution at a trade show to a handy mailer for people who want basic information about your company.

Today In History

Cathy Lee Crosby as Wonder Woman In 1974, Wonder Woman, the TV movie, came to ABC-TV, starring Cathy Lee Crosby. Wonder Woman did not wear the comic book costume and demonstrated no superhuman abilities. On December 18, 1975, another Wonder Woman TV movie entitled The New, Original Wonder Woman, to distinct itself from the Cathy Lee Crosby version, aired starring Lynda Carter. The new Wonder Woman was set in 1942 and the look of the show was copied directly from how the comic book looked in that era. It was excellent for its detail, and was faithful to how the characters were during World War II. Eventually, after a series of tv specials, Wonder Woman became a regular CBS-TV show, still starring Lynda Carter in the title role.Linda Carter as Wonder Woman CBS took Wonder Woman into the 1970s and instead of being Yeoman First Class Diana Prince as she had been during 1942, Wonder Woman was now an IADC(Inter Agency Defense Command) agent who was still Diana Prince. Retitled The New Adventures of Wonder Woman Diana was able to take on relevant things in the late 1970s such as mimes, disco, and psychics. During the second season on CBS, ratings dropped. The show was cancelled after two seasons.

Tips for Buying the Perfect Present

Some people can always find the perfect gift no matter what the occasion or who they are buying for, however some of us need a little help in buying the perfect gift. While some people are simply thoughtless when buying gifts, others are keen to buy gifts that really will be appreciated.

Some tips to consider for the next time you need to find that perfect gift.

  • Try to buy something you know the recipient wants or needs. This doesn’t mean you have to ask them directly, just keep your ears and eyes open. Most people are always talking about things they wish they had.
  • Remember that the gift is for someone else and not you, therefore be aware of the likes and dislikes of the recipient, and don’t just buy something that you would want yourself.
  • Planning and buying a gift in advance gives you a better chance of buying that perfect present. After all, we should all know when our friends and family’s birthdays are so there should be no reason for any last minute shopping.
  • It’s not just the thought that counts. If you have an idea for a great gift then deliver it, and deliver it well.
  • Personalised gifts make great presents because it shows you care and have made a real effort to find a gift and also thought about what message to write on it.
  • Be creative with your present buying. Try not to get into the rut of buying the same presents over and over again. Think of common things but change it up - Have a coffee lover? Find or create a cute mug and fill with different coffees, creamers etc. Chocolate lover, fill a mug with exotic hot cocoas and candy. You can make the common a one of a kind gift.
It’s not difficult to find the perfect gift for anyone. It just takes a little extra time to learn about the interests of the recipient. But the result will be worth it.
